Misfit Films makes bespoke film and photography content for the creative and charity sectors. From developing ideas and storyboards, through to shooting, editing and animating - we create sharp, tailored work. We're a small and responsive company, who've produced over 100 promotional films for prominent UK and international clients. We’ve had the fun and privilege of working with everyone from the Almeida Theatre to the Natural History Museum, British Council, UNICEF and Deutsche Bank CSR. We've worked with some of Britain's leading actors, from Toby Jones and Gemma Arterton to Ruth Wilson and Benedict Cumberbatch. And in theatre we've created videos for the UK's best known iconic and iconoclastic directors, including Lyndsey Turner, Josie Rourke, Carrie Cracknell and Dominic Dromgoole. Our work has been featured on the BBC, Sky Arts, CNN, and Guardian Online, amongst other media.
Misfit Films is run by Iona Firouzabadi. Iona is a graduate of the National Film and Television School, where she studied cinematography. She has shot for film and TV, with work showing at leading film festivals around the world as well as on UK terrestrial broadcasters. She wrote and co-produced the multi award-winning short film In Wonderland, which was long-listed for Best Short Film at the 2019 Film BAFTAs. Martha, her next short film as screenwriter, premiered at the 63rd BFI London Film Festival in 2019 and screened at multiple Oscar qualifying festivals internationally in 2020. Iona was a 2020 Film London Lodestar.
